Certified Optical Network Training, Which Includes IEEE Continuing Education Units, is Coming to Johannesburg

The in-depth 5 day training course in optical networking is a key enabler for well-designed and implemented DWDM networks.

JOHANNESBURG, GAUTENG, SOUTH AFRICA, March 27, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- FiberGuide, a training and consulting company based in Northern Virginia, announced that their next Certified Optical Network Associate (CONA) training class is scheduled for April 16 through April 20 at the Sandton Lodge in Johannesburg, South Africa. All those interested are encouraged to visit the FiberGuide fiber optic training page and complete the “contact us” form.

Candidates who pass a written examination and a project assignment will be CONA certified. All attendees who complete all course requirements receive an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Continuing Education Units (CECs) certificate.

CONA is an intermediate level course in which attendees learn the fundamentals of optical networking including the transmission of light through optical fiber, optical transmission components and modules and widely deployed commercial optical networking systems. Trainees learn how to design and plan efficient and cost effective high speed optical point to point links and networks that meet today’s and future requirements. Detailed course content can be viewed by downloading the course brochure at the bottom of the Certified Optical Network Associate (CONA) page.

Target audience includes transmission and planning engineers and managers, project managers, operation staff and all those involved with optical networks. Those involved with core networks, metro networks, national backbones and other wide area networks for enterprises, banks, educational and governmental institutions will benefit from the course.
CONA is developed by Optical Technology Training (OTT) and licensed to training companies around the world. FiberGuide is licensed by OTT to offer CONA training in the African continent.

“While there are many training courses available for fiber installers in Africa, CONA is the first vendor neutral course that covers the intricate workings of an entire optical network”, said Dr. Jabulani Dhliwayo, founder at FiberGuide. “In a region where most networks are deployed by foreign vendors as turn-key solution projects, CONA certified engineers are better positioned to be part of the network planning, design and implementation processes”, said Jabulani.
