Police abort attempted illegal entry of foreigners
Mbanza Kongo, ANGOLA, March 12 - At least 389 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who in the last seven days attempted to illegally enter the national territory through the province of Zaire, northern Angola, were detained by the Border Guard Police.,
The detention of illegal immigrants took place at several border posts in the province of Zaire with the Central Congo region (DRC), according to a note from the National Police's Provincial Command sent to Angop in Mbanza Kongo on Sunday.
According to the document, during the period under review, 60 border infringement offenses were reported (eight more), of which 53 illegal entry of foreigners, six of smuggling of fuel and an occurrence of devastation of flora and fauna, which resulted in seizure of 6,315 liters of gasoline and 280 wooden boards.
These foreign citizens, according to the report, have already been handed over to the provincial directorate of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) for proper treatment. Located in the north of Angola, the province of Zaire shares 330 kilometers of border with the Central Congo region (DRC) and is considered one of the entry doors of foreigners into the national territory due to the vulnerability and complexity of its borders.
