Angola, Russia reaffirm increased cooperation
Luanda, ANGOLA, March 5 - The search for new business opportunities in areas other than the current ones and the deepening of the existing cooperation were the converging points of the interventions of the Heads of Angolan and Russian diplomacy, Manuel Augusto, and, Serguey Lavrov during the bilateral talks.,
According to Minister Manuel Augusto, the priorities of the Angolan Government are aimed at the diversification of the economy.
Manuel Augusto said that there is a reciprocal interest at the highest level to strengthen bilateral cooperation and the visit of the Russian counterpart will reinforce the traditional ties of brotherhood, solidarity and cooperation that have brought peoples together for more than 40 years.
At the occasion, he stressed that the excellent relations between the two countries are a consequence of the privileged ties that date back from the struggle for national liberation.
He emphasized the efforts made by the Russian people to support Angolans in the struggle for national liberation and independence, the establishment of a democratic State and of law and the national reconstruction of Angola.
Regarding cooperation, Minister Manuel Augusto said that the Angolan Government favors a model whose general features are based on the promotion, expansion and increase of the political dialogue at the highest level, as well as the creation of objective conditions for the approximation of the business sectors and the development of private or public-private partnerships.
However, he said, cooperation between the two countries develops with significant actions in the fields of geology and mining, energy, higher education and training of defense and security, telecommunications and information technology, fisheries, finance and banking.
In Luanda, as part of a trip by some African countries, Serguey Lavrov said in his speech that the Russian Federation gives great importance to the closer economic cooperation between the two countries.
It is estimated that about 1,000 Russians live in Angola, while at least 1,500 Angolans live in Russia.
