Luanda, ANGOLA, March 5 - Russian top diplomat Serguey Lavrov Monday in Luanda said the Angolan Angosat satellite, produced and launched into space by a company from his country, remains in orbit and is scheduled to start operating next April. ,

 

It has recently reported that Russian manufacturer has lost contact with the first Angolan satellite (Angosat).

 

The information has to do with the loss of communication with Angosat and that the "fault" may have been caused by a short circuit.

 

However, Serguey Lavrov, who was speaking at a press conference in Luanda, did not confirm this information.

 

He  stressed that the satellite will start operating in April.

 

On the diplomatic field, the minister confirmed the invitation of Angolan head of State João Lourenço by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to visit Russia, still this year.

 

"At this moment we are making preparation," he said, alluding to the visit of President João Lourenço to Russia.

 

The diplomat stressed the political dialogue between the two countries, both through the exchange of delegations at the highest level and mutual support to international organisations.

 

According to Serguey Lavrov, there is excellent cooperation in the field of mineral resources and good prospects for developing partnerships in the oil and gas sector.

 

He said that the expansion of cooperation will also cover high-tech areas such as the use of atomic energy and cosmic space, both for peaceful purposes.

 

In view of the Angola's interest in gas, we invite the country to join the newly created forum for gas exporting countries," said Sergey Lavrov, who reiterated his country's commitment to maintain strategic cooperation with Angola in the training of staff.

 

About 1,100 Angolans are attending training in Russia.
