Contractor Sought for Tree Removal in Cherokee National Forest

USDA Forest Service Accepting Offers from Small Business until March 16, 2018

Benton, Tennessee, Feb. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

The Forest Service is currently accepting offers from small businesses to fulfill a contract requirement. The government needs a contractor to remove undesirable tree and shrub species in approximately 130 acres of the Chilhowee Area within the Cherokee National Forest. Offers must come from companies registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) by March 16, 2018.

The government is scheduling this work around the behaviors and nesting patterns of spring fawns and turkeys. It is estimated that the contractor who wins the bid will begin work around July 2, 2018. The contractor will be responsible for removing stumps and mowing down sprouts and/or seedlings of tree species that are not wanted in the area.

Offerors must submit a price quote for this work and must also submit non-pricing factors that will be extremely important for the contracting officer’s decision-making process. The non-pricing factors include capabilities statements and past performance records. In addition, the offeror must be registered in SAM and qualify as a small business in this industry. For assistance in understanding how to compile all of this data for the best possible offer to the government, businesses may contact a third-party firm.

US Federal Contractor Registration (USFCR) is the world’s largest third-party government registration firm. They not only register companies on their behalf in SAM, but also have pioneered the Advanced Procurement Portal (APP). APP allows business to perform market research, find opportunities and manage contacts with government buyers all in one place. The synthesis of this data paired with easy access will simplify the federal procurement process for businesses who may then dedicate their complete effort toward their performance on the contract instead of the acquisition of it.
