Huambo, ANGOLA, February 23 - Local authorities will accelerate the country's development process in a sustainable way, said opposition UNITA party's local secretary, Liberty Chiaka, Friday in Huambo province.,

Speaking to sellers in the informal market of Alemanha, where he went to listen to the salespeople's difficulties, the politician admitted that his organization views municipalities as a fundamental challenge to achieve the well-being of the population.

According to Liberty Chiyaka, the decision-making bodies will be closer to the reality of the local authorities, emphasizing that the more decentralized the power, the better it will be for the decision-making process and the resolution of the population's problems.

He also said that the challenge is launched by the government and if there is no change, in principle the first local elections in the country should happen by 2020.
