Danielle Evans is a graduate of Columbia University and the University of Iowa. In 2011, she was honored by the National Book Foundation as one of its "5 Under 35" fiction writers. Her stories have appeared in The Paris Review and Best American Short Stories collections in 2008, 2010, and 2017. In 2014 she became an assistant professor in the MFA program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Her work appeals to a wide range of tastes. Her stories have vivid characters, but also complex and suspenseful plots. They’re morally ambiguous but politically engaged. In Evans, the Mountainview Low-Residency MFA program found an author who seemed likely to appeal to the great majority of students.
