Commission drafts new legal framework for foreign citizens

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 15 - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, created a multi-sector commission to draft the New Legal Regime for Foreign Citizens.,

A press release from the Presidency of the Republic which ANGOP had access, reads that the establishment of the commission responds to the need to adopt a new immigration policy and a new visa regime.

However, according to the note, is the maximization of benefits arising from immigration and the reduction of their corrosive effects.

The committee has 90 days to present to the head of state the final report of its activity, that is, his understanding of the set of five tasks.

The tasks aims are to prepare and present the draft of the new legal regime for foreign citizens and their regulations, as well as to carry out a comparative study on the subject with other realities in the region and in the world.

The committee should also submit proposals for simplification of administrative procedures for handling and processing the granting of entry visas.

The last two tasks concern the submission of proposals for the fees and charges to be charged in connection with visa and other immigration procedures, and also the possibility of setting up liaison officers of the Migration and Foreigners Service together embassies and consular posts.

The commission is coordinated by the Minister of the Interior, heads of Foreign Relations, Finance, Transport, Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, and Tourism.

The secretaries of the President of the Republic for Diplomatic Affairs and International Cooperation and for Judicial and Legal Affairs also are part of the commission.

The group also includes a representative of the Security House of the President of the Republic, the head of the State Security and Intelligence Services, and the directors of the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Migration and Foreigners Service.
