President recommends sustainable cleaning model for Luanda

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 10 - Angolan head of State João Lourenço Friday recommended measures to make the public cleaning model of Luanda province more sustainable for the state coffers. ,

 

The recommendation is contained in the final communiqué released at the end of the meeting the president held with Luanda government officials, after his visit to the local infrastructure on Thursday.

 

The President calls for changing the current model of solid waste collection, transforming it into a new business in which people can benefit from their by-products, such as energy, recycled paper and fertilizers for agriculture, reads the communique.

 

The meeting also directed the speed up mechanisms for implementation of the administrative and financial decentralisation processes.

 

The measure is intended to provide local government bodies with autonomy for the implementation of priority projects in the communities.

 

In view of abnormally high levels of unemployed medical staff and teachers, the President directed the Ministers of Finance, Health and Education to create adequate and urgent policies to ensure the integration of the staff.

 

He ordered the completion of macro-drainage infrastructure in order to improve the basic sanitation of the city.

 

On Thursday, João Lourenço paid a five-hour visit to macro-drainage-related infrastructure as well social projects related to health, education and housing sector and recommended their quick conclusion.
