Angola, Brazil set out new dynamics in bilateral cooperation

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 10 - Angola and Brazil, members of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP), are working toward the implementation of the new dynamics and increased bilateral cooperation. ,

 

The stance was reiterated on Friday in Luanda by the Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, Manuel Augusto.

 

The Angolan top diplomat was speaking at the opening of official talks between the two countries' delegations, in which the Brazilian side was led by his counterpart, Aloysio Nunes.

 

Manuel Augusto said that the meeting served to reaffirm the commitment to continue strengthening and improving the friendship and cooperation ties that bring together both countries and peoples.

 

He said that the meeting reviewed the state of cooperation and assessed the results achieved in the various fields.

 

The parties also tackled the eventual constraints that prevented the harmonious development of these relations.

 

"We are convinced that the visit will help enhance and  granting a new dynamic in relations that will lead the two states to the progress and common welfare," he said.

 

The minister also noted that Angola attaches particular importance to the existing relations with Brazil, which symbolises a path full of achievements and a promising future.

 

Manuel Augusto mentioned the existing of the political will and vital interest in the development of cooperation in areas such as energy, agriculture, agro-industry, manufacturing, health, education, higher education and economic and financial.

 

Still in the economic field, the minister said that, despite the difficulties the two countries experience, the two governments must find viable solutions to overcome them.

 

The two countries established political-diplomatic relations on November 12, 1975, one day after the proclamation of the independence in Angola.

 

In June 1980 Angola and Brazil signed in Luanda the Agreement for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, a legal instrument that sets the legal framework for cooperation between the two countries.

 

In 2010, the countries established the Strategic Partnership that raised their relationships at a new level.
