Tripartite Summit analyses situation in DRC

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 13 - The situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will once again bring together the Heads of State of Angola, João Lourenço, DRC, Joseph Kabila, and Congo, Denis Sassou N ' Guesso, in a mini-summit.,

The meeting in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, is part of the regular consultations between the three Heads of State of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

On the basis of the permanent consultations between representatives of the three bordering countries, among other things, is the reschedule of the general elections in the DRC, which went from 31 December 2017 to 23 December 2018, a fact which displeases the opposition.

This situation led to the opposition demanding the departure of President Kabila, who is constitutionally prevented from running again for the presidential term.

The postponement fueled suspicions that Joseph Kabila would try to eliminate constitutional limits of office, leaving an internal social upheaval latent with likely consequences for neighboring countries.
