CCA Florida Heads to Tallahassee for Annual Event, Representing Florida Anglers

Day on the Hill exposes state leaders to efforts by CCA Florida and members to bring positive and meaningful change to Florida's waterways and marine fisheries.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA, US, February 1, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- CCA Florida, the state's leading organization dedicated to marine fisheries conservation, education and advocacy, is headed to the state Capitol on February 8th, to share its message with state leaders and the general public. The Day on the Hill initiative provides the nonprofit with an opportunity to demonstrate the vital role it plays in fisheries management and habitat restoration initiatives to elected state leadership and members of the general public, through an engaging exhibit during the annual legislative session.

Members from around the state will join with representatives from the nonprofit to highlight its 33-year legacy in Florida, the economic importance of Florida's recreational fishing industry, and its leadership in working with fisheries managers including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the National Marine Fisheries Service. The Day on the Hill will also be an opportunity to promote ongoing habitat creation and restoration efforts to support Florida's marine resources. These efforts include offshore and nearshore reef development, oyster reef restoration and shoreline stabilization projects, coastal trash cleanups and the planting of seagrass beds, saltmarsh and mangroves.

Several of the organization's partners will be represented at the event, including Contender Boats, Maverick Boat Group and Yamaha Outboards, through large visual displays, including boats currently up for grabs in the CCA Florida Boat Raffle, benefiting statewide habitat initiatives. Attendees will also learn about other CCA activities in Florida, including CCA Florida STAR, presented by Yamaha, the largest family-friendly saltwater fishing competition in Florida.

"CCA Florida supports strong, resource-based law enforcement, access to resources for recreational fishing, and strong, fairly balanced fishery regulations to protect state and federal fish stocks," stated Executive Director Brian Gorski. "CCA continues to play an important role in saltwater fisheries management and will always be a strong voice for recreational anglers, and the Day on the Hill allows us to carry this message to the top, to our elected state leadership."
