Addis Ababa, ANGOLA, January 27 - The working day of the Angolan delegation that will take part in the 30th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) from 28 to 29 this month was marked Friday by diplomatic contacts with strategic partners.,

 

Foreign Minister Manuel Augusto discussed the state of cooperation with the European Union (EU) during a meeting he had with the Director-General for Africa in the European External Action Service, Koen Vervaeke, who "appreciates the ongoing reforms in Angola ".

At the end of the meeting, Koen Vervaeke told the press that the EU is confident that the reforms implemented by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, will open up more space to strengthen and deepen relations between Angola and that European organization.

He said that Angola is an important player in Africa and therefore discussed with the Angolan authorities matters related to the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Zimbabwe and other issues concerning peace and security in which the European Union might be useful.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also discussed matters related to strengthening cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan when he met the Deputy Chief of the Office of the First Vice-President of that country, Fariz Rzayev.

Along the day, Angolan head of diplomacy was received by his Ethiopian counterpart, Workneh Gebeyehu, with whom he discussed the strengthening cooperation between both countries and the possibility of Ethiopia to set up an embassy in Luanda.

Manuel Augusto also analyzed on Friday with the Commissioner of the African Union for Human Rights, Maiga Soyata, aspects related to the political and humanitarian situation in some states of the continent.
