Governments open to public debt auditing
Luanda, ANGOLA, January 26 - The Angolan government is open to the implementation of the legal tools that ensure the strict and transparent accomplishment of the public funds, including its auditing, said on Thursday in Luanda the minister of State for Social Economic Development, Manuel Nunes Júnior.,
The official said so while answering the issue regarding the public debt auditing as requested by the country’s main opposition party (UNITA) during the 2018 State Budget discussion.
According to UNITA’s vision, the success or failure of the current government will depend on the solution it will make on the burden of the public debt, in which the auditing would allow a meaningful reduction in the debt and turn it into viable payment without punishing taxpayers.
Meanwhile, the government official underlined that the government has a clear policy regarding the principles of rigor and transparency on the country’s public resources management, which welcomes all the legal means that contribute to achievement of this purpose.
He also explained that the Finance Ministry has available means to control the internal public debt and through the usage of these tools, it has been detecting processes not complying with regulation and law established for the management of country’s domestic debt.
