Glenn Almack pledges support for Texas home care charity
In an ever-growing, ever-aging population, care of elderly loved ones, neighbors and friends is more important than ever.
For over 80 years, the Visiting Nurse Association has provided care to elderly residents of North Texas.
As an avid supporter of care in the community, Dallas resident Glenn Almack has pledged to support the Visiting Nurse Association has witnessed first-hand the services they offer.
"I provide ongoing support for the Visiting Nurse Association's Meals on Wheels program," says Glenn Almack. "My mother received hot meals from this program, which was very helpful in her care."
The association's mission is to help people age with dignity and independence at home.
Along with "meals on wheels" and private care, the Visiting Nurse Association also provides hospice care, for when care in the home is no longer an option.
Even in a hospice setting, the association focuses on living life to its fullest. "Each and every patient and their family is cared for with absolute dignity and respect," says the charity.
Almack has nothing but praise for the organization. "Association volunteers additionally interact with their clients, which helps to lift the recipient's spirits while checking in on them," he recalls of the meal delivery service.
The Visiting Nurse Association delivers freshly prepared, highly nutritious meals to over 4,000 Dallas County residents each week. Many of these individuals are what the association refers to as "the hidden hungry" — housebound, often with limited mobility, and unable to access grocery stores or food banks.
A recent report revealed that the state of Texas has the 7th highest rate of hunger among senior citizens in the nation.
The Visiting Nurse Association aims to change this, backed by donations from patrons such as Glenn Almack.
The association is wholly appreciative of such charity. "Your care and compassion make all the difference in the lives of thousands of North Texas neighbors every day," it says. "Because of your generosity, the Visiting Nurse Association comforts the dying, nourishes the hungry, and provides care to the elderly and infirm."
Healthcare in the home and the Visiting Nurse Association have now become synonymous with thousands of patients and their relatives living in the area, including Almack and his family.
Today, the association provides a full spectrum of much needed, high-quality care to many of the elderly, hungry, frail, sick, or disabled individuals of North Texas, in the comfort of their own homes.
The Visiting Nurse Association's highly qualified staff and volunteers provide quality and compassionate care and support services which have become the hallmark of the community's most trusted provider of home health care.
