Over recent years, Tonga has enjoyed robust growth and macroeconomic stability, with the construction sector being the main driver of growth. Tonga’s reliance on private and official transfers poses sustainability risks, particularly given the economy’s vulnerability to external shocks and the potentially high costs of natural disasters.
