China pledges to maintain support for Angola

Luanda, ANGOLA, January 14 - Chinese government has announced its permanent support for diversification of Angolan economy , as part of existing strategic partnership between the two countries.,

 

The Asian country's pledge was announced by China’s Foreign Affairs minister, Wang Yi, at the end of an audience the Angolan president, João Lourenço, granted to him on Saturday in Luanda.

 

Within the ongoing diversification of economy, China's support will focus on technology transfer for development of this African nation, said the visiting minister, who arrived in Angolan capital on Saturday.

 

The Chinese diplomat also stressed the importance of  expanding bilateral cooperation, adding that his country's authorities are pleased with the way the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, is searching for solution to development of Angola.

 

 Wang Yi also said he received assurances from the Angolan president on the creation of an attractive business environment for private investors in the country.

 

As for the opening of the new credit line, the diplomat said his country is currently studying the possibility to implement this process, should Angola makes any request on the issue.

 

Wang Yi’s includes the signing on Sunday of an agreement on exemption of visa in ordinary passports between Angola and China.

 

The two countries will mark 35 years of diplomatic relation this year. 

 

Angola has benefitted from the first Chinese credit line in 2002.

China currently imports half of the oil from Angola and has 250.000 workers operating in the construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure.
