National entrepreneurs highlight economic development

Luanda, ANGOLA, January 6 - National entrepreneurs are deeming positive the measures and expectations created by the Angolan Executive in the ambit of the re-launch of internal production, the diversification of the country’s economy and socioeconomic development. ,

The hope for a better economic environment was expressed by representatives of entrepreneurial organisations in the end of a meeting with the head of the Angolan Executive, João Lourenço.

 

Amílcar Silva, chairman of the Angolan Association of Banks (ABANC), reaffirmed the support of entrepreneurs to the country’s socioeconomic development process.

 

The chairman of the Angolan Industrial Association (AIA), José Severino, recognised that the Angolan President has been very active and focused on the economic side of his governance, reason why he appeals for greater pragmatism from businesspeople to contribute to a substantial increase of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Angola.  

 

He also called for the adoption of tough measures against acts of contraband, at the same time that he defended the liberalisation of the entrepreneurial activity, reduction of bureaucracy and the promotion of cross-border fairs with a view to eliminating illegal trade, as well as to attract foreign exchanges.     

 

João Gonçalves, from the Association of Hotels and Similar Infrastructures  (Horesia), defendedmajor investment in the training of young entrepreneurs.

 

The audience with the Head of State is intended to harmonise the government’s economic policy with the endeavours of the national entrepreneurs, which is intended to contribute to the mitigation of the crisis facing the country and make way for socioeconomic development.   

 

Meanwhile, in the opening of the meeting, President João Lourenço declared that the country’s socioeconomic development can only take place with the participation of the national private entrepreneurial sector.
