VMUG Announces Tech Superstar Lineup for Upcoming Portland UserCon

The event will include sessions on exciting VMware announcements and integrations like Amazon Web Services (AWS).

PORTLAND, OR, USA, November 2, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The VMware User Group (VMUG) is excited to announce the lineup for the Portland UserCon next week. The event will include a keynote presentation by Frank Denneman, Senior Staff Architect at VMware and sessions on exciting VMware announcements and integrations like Amazon Web Services (AWS).

In the opening keynote, Frank Denneman will take a closer look at VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services. VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC) brings VMware’s enterprise-class Software-Defined Data Center software to Amazon’s public cloud. Couple the best enterprise software with the best data center operator in the world and you get an on-demand elastically scalable private cloud deployable anywhere in the world. VMC enables customers to use a common set of software and tools to manage both their AWS-based and on-premises vSphere resources consistently. This keynote will take a closer look at VMC key features that help you transfer your job role from infrastructure manager to resource manager.

Do you have a problem making heads/tails out of all this new cloud-native technology? Are you being asked to put an open source software stack into production because your app teams just architected a business changing application with it? Are you scratching your head trying to figure out how you are going to operationalize all of this new technology? Steve Tegeler, Technical Product Management & SE at VMware, will guide you through this brave new world. We’re identifying this world as “Cloud Native”, and it can encompass a large grouping of new technology that everyone is scrambling to figure out how to operationalize. This presentation, “Cloud-Native, Containers, Docker, Microservices, DevOps, Squirrel!” will cover some key technologies as they pertain to the cloud-native and container space.

The closing keynote will be given by Chris McCain, Director of Product Management for Networking and Security at VMware. The landscape of IT infrastructure is changing drastically as the private and public clouds collide into seamless infrastructure. New partnerships between VMware and public cloud providers are creating opportunities for companies to be more agile, efficient, and scalable than ever before. This collision is an opportunity for the IT professional to capture lightning in a bottle by learning new skills that will keep them on the forefront of the changing data center architecture. IT professionals, like the organizations they work for, need to adopt growth mindsets that take challenges head-on, embrace new technologies, and let go of the fixed mindset of old data center methods. The success of new data center strategies hinges on the ability of IT organizations to realize the value of new tools, automated processes, and a more unified workforce.

In addition to these speakers, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with vendors, sponsors, and partners in the Exhibit Hall and participate in a variety of other technical sessions from VMware and community experts!
