Huila: INAD destroys explosive devices
Humpata, ANGOLA, October 31 - At least 217 unexploded ordnance removed this year from the land reserves of the municipalities of Cuvango and Lubango, Huíla province, were destroyed Monday by the National Demining Institute (INAD) in Humpata. ,
The activity is part of the International Week for the Disarmament of Civil Population, which began on 23 October and ends this Tuesday.
Of the removed ordnance, there were 55 projectiles of 82, 60, 81 mm and one of 120 mm D-30, 43 antipersonnel mines, five grenades, 48 miscellaneous ammunition and 31 projectiles of grenade spear.
Were also part of the military stuff , 28 RPJ7, two signaling flares and an equal number of 23 mm ZEU ammunition and two weapons called Gali and one PKM.
INAD's chief of operations in Huila, Neto Pascoal, said that the institution is currently working to clear suspected areas to allow large-scale agricultural production and the movement of people and goods without the threat of mines.
On the occasion he called on the population to inform government or traditional authorities when they encounter strange objects, avoiding deaths by negligence.
