Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, the Mine Engineer (Short Range Planner) will work closely with the Technical Services, Mine Operations, and Mine Maintenance teams. The Short Range Planner will develop detailed short range plans and schedules for Mine Production in the 1 week to 1 month time window aligned to medium and long range strategic business plans. Additional duties include work order planning for Mine Operations (Production and Construction), reporting of post-audit production metrics and restrictions, and in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders, identifying operational, capital and business improvement requirements and constraints to execute mine development and production activities to ensure safe, reliable, sustainable, low cost production at PCS Rocanville while providing leadership and guidance within the department.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology or a related discipline, supplemented with a minimum of 3 experience in underground mining or a closely related field. Previous potash mining, budgeting, and mine planning experience is considered an asset. A working knowledge of a scheduling software such as MS Project, Primavera or MineRP is considered an asset. Excellent computer skills, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications and superior interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required.The candidate must have a proven ability to lead and develop others by demonstrating superior skills in coaching and mentoring.
The successful candidate may be required to undergo a background check. All safety sensitive positions require a substance test in accordance with PotashCorp policy.
