PGR sets up steps for criminal justice in globalization era

Luanda, ANGOLA, October 26 - The Attorney General of the Republic, João Maria de Sousa, considers the judicial power of the State-Nation-Territory the focal point for criminal justice in the era of globalization. ,

According to João Maria de Sousa, who was speaking on Wednesday about the Prosecuting Counsel and the challenges of globalization, it is in this context that the challenges of the states must be addressed.

 

The official, who is in Dili, East Timor, said that despite the specific legal system of each country, the Prosecuting Counsel is in a privileged position to respond to the demands of legal and judicial cooperation.

 

In this regard, according to a note from the Attorney General's Office, which alludes to the intervention of João Maria de Sousa, the values ​​and principles of the rule of law are elements that unite the institutions of the Prosecuting Counsel.

He  concluded that the judicial sector should be one of the great priorities of the State, which should provide it with trained operators, decent and functional infrastructures.

 

On the other hand, he argued that differences in models of prosecuting counsel, if any, should not be an obstacle to international legal and judicial cooperation in criminal matters.

 

In East Timor, João Maria de Sousa is participating from October 25-27 at the XV Meeting of Attorneys General of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP).
