VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 20, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Carl Data Solutions Inc. (CSE:CRL) (FSE:7C5) (OTC:CDTAF), a developer of Big-Data-as-a-Service (BDaaS)-based solutions for data integration, business intelligence, and Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) applications, is pleased to announce that Carl Data’s Polish subsidiary has been accepted for a ~393k CAD research and development grant through the European Union for a project estimated at ~508k CAD. This grant will provide funding for research into new ways of data collection that use machine learning and predictive modelling to improve water infrastructure efficiency.

Tomasz Białaszewski, an Assistant Professor at Department of Decision Systems and Robotics at Gdańsk University of Technology, will be assisting the Carl data science team through the various stages of the project. He commented, “Our industrial research and experimental development work will help lead the way to future applications of machine learning through infrastructure monitoring. We are excited to show the potential of this technology, while finding ways to reduce operational costs for government and industry.”

The three main points of focus in this project will be the ability to make continuous predictions of how infrastructure will respond to forecasted storm events, anomaly detection services to improve the quality of data collected, and an intelligent sensor that measures flow using a machine learning model.
