The Conference Secretariat of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) has learnt with great dismay of the attack early this month on Major Danny Amani MWEMEZ, personnel with the Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM), one of the ICGLR’s security organs based in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, while travelling with his family within that city.  

The ICGLR Secretariat condemns this horrific act against a member of its mechanism in charge of consolidation of peace and security in the Great Lakes Region, particularly in Eastern DRC. 

The ICGLR calls upon all stakeholders in the fight against the negative forces in the region to re-double their efforts to eradicate this threat to peace and stability in some of our Member States.
