A diverse group of thought leaders from the lighting and IT industries gathered for cross-cutting dialogue on the promise, potential, and challenges of connected lighting systems at the third annual DOE Connected Lighting Systems Workshop, held June 7-8 in Santa Clara, CA. They took a close look at key barriers and issues, and discussed what actions are needed to move connected lighting systems forward.

Panel topics ranged from cybersecurity needs, to intra- and inter-luminaire communications protocols, to systems integration strategies, to energy reporting techniques. The discussions and attendee feedback will guide DOE planning in the coming months.
