A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom, and Carlo Calenda, Minister of Economic Development of Italy, took place today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2017.

The parties discussed the development of Russian-Italian cooperation in the energy sector.

Boris Lim, Director General of NIPIgazpererabotka, Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer of the Maire Tecnimont Group, and Dong Lu, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Sinopec Engineering Group, signed in the presence of Alexey Miller and Carlo Calenda the EPC contract for the off-site facilities at Gazprom’s Amur gas processing plant (GPP).

The off-site facilities will include, among other things, inter-shop pathways and communications, a liquefied natural gas storage with a loading rack, the Amur GPP’s single operator room with an integrated plant management system, and various energy, administrative and auxiliary facilities.

The contract requires the involvement of a Russian organization specializing in automation systems.

Funds for the contract will be secured through project financing provided by credit organizations, including the Italian export credit agency SACE.

The Amur GPP will be the largest gas processing plant in Russia and one of the biggest in the world. It will have a design capacity of 42 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The GPP will also include the world’s largest helium production facility (up to 60 million cubic meters per year).

Linde AG will supply the Amur GPP with the core process equipment for cryogenic recovery of helium and valuable petrochemical substances from gas.

China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation will design, manufacture and supply equipment, as well as build booster compressor shops and gas dehydration, purification and fractionation units for the Amur GPP.

The consortium of Tecnimont and Sinopec was selected as the EPC contractor through an open competitive procedure.

The Maire Tecnimont Group is an international EPC contractor specializing in the construction of gas processing and petrochemical facilities. The company operates in 30 countries, including Russia.

The Sinopec Engineering Group is one of China’s leading engineering companies. It is a part of Sinopec Corp, a Chinese petrochemical corporation.
