Argentine cooperation in South Africa

On 16-19 May, Argentine Cooperation was present in NAMPO, the most important agroindustrial exhibition of the African continent, held this year in Bothaville, South Africa.

In the context of the project "Development of experimental plots in sustainable agriculture", carried out through the Argentine Fund of South-South Cooperation (FO.AR) in South Africa, Argentine experts from the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) participated in the exhibition with various activities seeking to provide technical information on no-till farming, gathering African farmers interested in this Argentine technology.

In addition, a "farmer's day" was held in Middelburg-Mpumalanga, where a dynamic exhibition of machinery and the national zero tillage production system, aimed at local farmers, was staged.

The project, developed through FO.AR, seeks to strengthen the technical capabilities of South African institutions and producers in sustainable grain production. In addition to the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Agro-industry and INTA, the CITEDER Foundation and the Argentine Chamber of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers (CAFMA) participated in the activities by providing private sector capabilities and facilitating the availability of Argentine technology. South African companies and institutions, such as Grain SA and the University of Pretoria, also participated in the event, under the oversight of the Agriculture Research Council.

Through this project, Argentine Cooperation showcases the synergies between the public, private and academic sectors, and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
