RI International’s Third Crisis Center to Open This Year

Staff and guests will not be separated by Plexiglas fish tank walls, and our engaging teams will focus on helping those we serve return to a life of meaning and purpose in their communities.”
— RI International CEO and President David Covington
RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, U.S., April 28, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- RI International CEO and President David Covington announced today that the ribbon cutting for the Mental Health Urgent Care located at 9890 County Farm Road in Riverside, CA, will be held on May 3rd at 10 am.
.
“We are grateful to the Riverside Board of Supervisors, the Riverside University System -Behavioral Health and the Riverside County Economic Development Agency for making this beautiful mental health facility possible. RI International’s aim is to ensure that every crisis facility we manage is inviting -- resembling an upscale home rather than an institution – and serves as a healing space. In this facility, staff and guests will not be separated by Plexiglas fish tank walls, and our engaging teams will focus on helping every person we serve return to a life of meaning and purpose in their communities.”

According to Covington, the mental health urgent care will provide 24/7/365 care including; around-the-clock assessment, psychiatric support, medication management and customized services to adults voluntarily seeking assistance for a mental health crisis. Guests may enter the urgent care at any time of the day or night, or may be referred to the walk-in center by mobile crisis teams or law enforcement for crisis and assessment services. All visits and stays are voluntary, and cannot exceed 24 hours. During their stay, individuals participate in developing their own care plan including options for recovery education, peer-to-peer support, mental health services, nutritional counseling, coordination and referrals to community-based services.

Covington said RI International is operating the center under a contract with Riverside University Health System.

Steve Steinberg, the director of RUHS Behavioral Health, said the center will help relieve pressure on local emergency departments that get overwhelmed by individuals brought in by law enforcement on involuntary psychiatric admissions known as a 5150.

“Our goal is to provide a positive alternative to requiring involuntarily holds in hospital emergency rooms,” Steinberg said. Through this mental health urgent care, we’re able to help de-escalate situations and help individuals move more quickly toward recovery.”
