FEMP Releases Advanced Metering Systems Training Series

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) recently released a new three-course training certificate series on Advanced Metering Systems.

The training series provides guidance for turning information from metered data into operational, cost-saving best practices. Course instruction describes opportunities to reduce costs, optimize system performance, and maximize investments using the latest metering standards and analytical methods. The one-hour courses include:

By completing this certificate series, participants will:

  • Understand federal requirements for metering and the value of using metered data
  • Evaluate how metered data can be used to improve building performance
  • Apply basic techniques for performing metered data analysis
  • Use basic metered data analysis to identify operational efficiency opportunities

The instructor for this course is Saralyn Bunch, PE, technical project manager for metering, product procurement, and water at FEMP.

After completing course evaluations and multiple-choice assessments for individual certificate series courses, participants will receive continuing education units for each course and be eligible for a FEMP series certificate for Advanced Metering Systems.

FEMP eTraining courses are designed for federal energy and facility managers, but are open to all individuals through the FEMP Training Search. Courses are hosted in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences Whole Building Design Guide.
