FEMP Offers Certificate Series on Advanced Lighting Systems

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) presents Advanced Lighting Systems, a new FEMP Certificate Series that provides energy and facility managers with a holistic approach to improving lighting performance.

Series courses cover interior and exterior lighting system applications, including lighting sources, technologies, controls, and emerging trends, as well as federal procurement guidance, requirements, and resources.

This FEMP Certificate Series includes the following courses:

By completing this training series, participants will be able to:

  • Identify various lighting sources and their most effective applications
  • Evaluate key factors in lighting retrofit and replacement
  • Select among cost-effective lighting control configurations
  • Specify the best types of LEDs to meet project requirements.

The instructor for this training series is Michael Myer, a lighting engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

After completing course evaluations and multiple-choice assessments for individual certificate series courses, participants will receive continuing education units for each course and be eligible for a FEMP Series Certificate in Advanced Lighting Technologies.

FEMP eTraining courses are designed for Federal energy and facility managers, but are open to all individuals through the FEMP Training Search. Courses are hosted in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences Whole Building Design Guide.
