President Faure on first working visit in Dubai
The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Danny Faure was received by his Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, during the President’s first working visit to Dubai.
Their discussions centered on trade and commerce between Dubai and Seychelles.
The threat of piracy which resulted in Indian Ocean being a high-risk zone. Given that this illegal activity has been successfully reduced in the last three years, President Faure sought the support of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum in the facilitation of talks with the key operators of shipping lines serving the Indian Ocean.
The main objective would be to review high insurance premium charges which is a significant factor in the cost of sea freight. Any lowering of costs in sea freight would generate a reduction in the costs of imports, and consequently a lowering of the cost of living in the Seychelles and in the region as well.
The President expressed gratitude for the formidable airline connectivity which has played an important role in the improved tourism arrival numbers and the consequential benefit that has had for the economic and social development of the country.
