InterDigital-shaped panel seeks to re-establish innovative potential of Network Function Virtualization beyond cost savings

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 27, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2017 -- Once touted as a potentially revolutionary technology that would unlock new possibilities and network architectures, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) has instead gone down a relatively mundane road of cost savings. But a panel shaped by Alan Carlton of InterDigital (NASDAQ:IDCC) at Mobile World Congress 2017 will seek to take a new look at NFV and examine ways that some of its original potential could be unlocked.
