API: U.S. leadership on carbon emission reduction is example for world to follow

WASHINGTON, November 16, 2016 – API Senior Director for Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Howard Feldman highlighted our nation’s leadership in carbon emission reduction due to clean-burning natural gas as the Obama administration released its 2050 energy strategy.

”The United States is leading the world in the production of oil and natural gas and leading the world in reducing carbon emissions which are near 20 year lows,” said Feldman. “The administration should embrace our nation’s energy renaissance that has lowered costs for consumers, benefitted American workers and improved the environment.”

API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy. API’s more than 625 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms. They provide most of the nation’s energy and are backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 30 million Americans.
