AXIS Capital Promotes Conrad D. Brooks to General Counsel
Brooks Succeeds Richard T. Gieryn Jr., Who Will Retire Following 14 Years at the Company
PEMBROKE, Bermuda, Dec. 13, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AXIS Capital Holdings Limited (“AXIS Capital”) (NYSE:AXS) today announced that Conrad D. Brooks has been promoted to General Counsel, effective Jan. 1, 2017. Mr. Brooks, who advances from the position of Executive Vice President, Corporate General Counsel, will report directly to Albert Benchimol, President and CEO of AXIS Capital, and will be a member of the Company’s Executive Committee. In his new role, Mr. Brooks will have global oversight of legal, compliance and regulatory operations across all AXIS offices.

Mr. Brooks’ promotion follows the retirement of Richard T. Gieryn Jr., who had served as AXIS Capital’s General Counsel since April 2006. A valued member of the Company’s senior leadership team, Mr. Gieryn enjoyed a 35-year career in law that included 14 years at AXIS.

Conrad D. Brooks Bio
Before joining AXIS Capital in January 2007 as Corporate Counsel, Mr. Brooks was a partner at the law firm McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (now Dentons), where he was a member and practice team leader in the firm’s corporate and securities practice. Mr. Brooks holds a J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois. He also earned a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from Old Dominion University. Mr. Brooks also formerly served as an officer in the United States Navy.
