Representatives of the tribes will appear before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and at a hearing in federal court

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, December 8, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representatives from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and the Yankton Sioux Tribe (the “Tribes”) will testify at a hearing at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights on December 9 at 10:15 a.m. These representatives will hold a press conference following the hearing. The tribes want to ensure that people involved with the protest and opposition for the Dakota Access Pipeline are protected from harassment and violence. The hearing will be held at the Padilha Vidal Room (TL Level), GSB Building of the Organization of American States, 1889 F Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20006

There will also be a status hearing before the Honorable James Boasberg on the lawsuit, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe v. United States Army Corps of Engineers, that will discuss the case in light of the recent decision of the Army Corps decision to deny a permit to complete the pipeline as currently planned.

That hearing will take place at 10:30 am in the United States Courthouse, 333 Constitutional Ave, Washington, DC 20001 and a press conference will take place on the courthouse steps after the hearing.
