(E & E) (NASDAQ: EEI) has been awarded the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) New York Engineering Excellence Gold Award in the Studies, Research, and Consulting Engineering Services category. The prestigious award recognizes E & E's pioneering work to restore habitat sites within the Niagara River Area of Concern (AOC), one of 43 listed AOCs in the Great Lakes due to severe environmental degradation including loss of fish and wildlife habitat.

E & E provided planning and conceptual design services for seven priority habitat sites within the Niagara River AOC for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo under the Great Lakes Fishery and Ecosystem Restoration program. Five of the seven conceptual designs were recently selected for funding for final design by other agencies and not-for-profit organizations through various funding opportunities. Implementing the ecological restoration approaches will improve ecosystem function and provide riparian corridor connection, which will greatly improve fish and wildlife habitat. These designs will serve as examples for future restoration projects throughout the Great Lakes Region.
