FEMP Offers New Certificate Series on Data Center Energy Efficiency
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) presents new a FEMP Certificate Series on Data Center Energy Efficiency.
This training series provides data center directors and energy managers with a holistic approach to improving data center performance and maintaining optimal operations to meet ever increasing computing and storage needs.
Series courses discuss best practices for air management, environmental conditions, cooling systems, and electrical systems to achieve high-performance, energy-efficient data centers.
This new training series includes six on-demand courses, which offer continuing education units (CEUs).
By completing this series, learners will learn to:
- Maximize savings through software and information technology efficiency
- Optimize environmental conditions for energy savings
- Implement air management systems for optimal temperature and airflow
- Evaluate and select cooling system options to best meet the needs of your equipment and facility
- Minimize electrical loss from power conversions, lighting systems, and motors and drives.
The instructor for the Series is Dale Sartor, department head for the Building Applications Team at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
After completing course evaluations and multiple-choice assessments for individual certificate series courses, participants will receive CEUs for each course and eligibility for a FEMP Series Certificate in Data Center Energy Efficiency.
FEMP eTraining courses are designed for federal energy and facility managers but are open to all individuals through the FEMP Training Search. Courses are hosted in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences’ Whole Building Design Guide.
