ATLANTA , GA, UNITED STATE, November 3, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- November 18 , 2016 African American Women in Cinema (AAWIC) will be launching their Atlanta,GA Chapter at Apex Museum, 135 Auburn N. E.,Atlanta, GA at 12 – 3pm. Ms. Terra Renee, the founder of AAWIC has a powerful vision to empower women of color that are filmmakers that have written and produced their own films. Although overlooked, she believes that they should be acknowledged and recognized for their creativity.

To accomplish this, AAWIC provides a platform of excellence that gives award honors to filmmakers wherein their work can be screened to the world.
Through this movement over the years, Ms. Renee has received the NAACP Women of the Year Award, interviewed by Sandra Bookman on ABC Channel 7 New York WABC-TV “Here and Now” for working on this platform over 19 years, featured in New York Times and received Fellowship from United Way & Baruch College. There are various other companies that have also honored and acknowledged the great work Ms. Renee is accomplishing.

Ms. Renee will be honoring renowned Hollywood Casting Director, Ms. Winsome Sinclair with an award, whom will be present to screen her film called “Untitled” at the Apex Historical Museum. “Untitled” is a film about an ex-marine that is out for revenge on an old enemy. He is stopped by a police officer that forces him to question his whole perspective on life, race and even his own premeditated intentions.” Winsome Sinclair casted for ALL Eyez on Me, Barbershop, The Next Cut, and Bessie. Immediately after the film screening, Ms. Winsome will be participating in the audience question & answer segment.

AAWIC will also be honoring Breakout Reality star Mushiya Tshikuka from WeTv from the TV show called “Cutting It in The ATL’s” as their Ambassador for the African American Women In Cinema Atlanta Chapter. We have asked that the Honorable Kasim Reed, the mayor of Atlanta to perform the honor of presenting his letter of recognition to Mushiya Tshikuka. We have invited Atlanta City Council President Caesar C Mitchell, Atlanta City Council Member Kwanza Hall District #2.
