Walmart is making it easy for you to take charge of families' health by hosting Walmart Wellness Day, the largest health-screening event in the nation. The event, which was called “America’s Biggest Health Fair” last year, will take place from noon-4 p.m. local time on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Walmart stores nationwide.

Walmart will give free blood glucose and blood pressure tests, vision screenings (only at stores with vision centers), product samples and information on health care insurance. Additionally, Walmart’s licensed pharmacists will offer low-cost immunizations (most insurances accepted) in all Walmart pharmacies in the US.

Walmart has conducted thousands of health screenings over the past several years, some of which may have had lifesaving results. According to a Walmart pharmacy manager in Everett, Penn., one patient's readings during last year’s wellness event “were so alarming that she went immediately to the emergency room where she was treated for a hypertensive emergency.”
