Tamil Tiger Event in Jaffna, Sri Lanka
A Tamil Tiger Event took place in Jaffna, Sri Lanka on 26th (Monday).
The event was to commemorate the death of LTTE senior leader Lt Col Thileepan, a confidant of LTTE leader Pirapaharan. His statue, which was erected close to the popular Nallur Kandasamy Hindu Temple in Jaffna, was destroyed by the Military after the defeat of LTTE in 2009.
But this year on his death anniversary, a memorial event took place at the site of the destroyed statue. Hundreds of LTTE supporters, general public, religious leaders and political leaders participated in the event to pay homage to the LTTE leader.
It is reported that several Members of Parliament belonging to Tamil National Alliance (TNA), which was formed by LTTE, also participated in this event. Notable among them was TNA’s Secretary General Mr. Senathirajah.
Events also took place at Jaffna University.
