Children’s food company Little Dish won the coveted Health and Wellbeing Award at last night’s prestigious Food and Drink Federation (FDF) Awards held at London’s The Brewery. The FDF Awards celebrate the best businesses across the food and drink industry and the Health and Wellbeing award – sponsored by Nestlé UK & Ireland – recognises companies that have gone the extra mile in supporting healthier diets.

Little Dish is a range of fresh, healthy meals for young children made from 100% natural ingredients and is nutritionally designed for toddlers aged 1-3 years old. The company has championed a project to strengthen the overall brand offer by providing families with information about nutrition and cooking.

Little Dish published two key tools: The Little Dish Family Cookbook to encourage families to cook together, and also The Little Dish Nutrition Guide to offer families information and advice about feeding their young children. The aim of the project is that parents across the UK are helped to access simple, healthy family recipes that encourage their children to take an active role in preparation from a very young age. They can also access specific nutritional information about feeding their young child during the toddler years.

FDF’s Director General Ian Wright said: “It is great that Little Dish has made such an effort in getting young chefs into the kitchen and to start learning about health and wellbeing through food at such a young age. Getting parents and children to cook together also makes this an experience for the whole family. I congratulate Little Dish on this fantastic initiative and on promoting health and wellbeing in such a positive way”

Ana Baptista, Head of Public Affairs at category sponsor Nestlé UK Ltd. said: “Little Dish has really put consumers and their nutritional needs at the heart of their product offerings. Through the product range and new tailored publications, their commitment to helping improve families’ practical knowledge and enjoyment of healthy diets is undeniable. Encouraging the whole family to get involved with choosing and preparing healthy meals in this way, it’s a skill that will stay with the children for life.
