"Generation Me: The Musical" A Festival Hit Is Returning to Hudson Theater in Hollywood Sep. 16
A brilliantly fresh musical which captures the tragedy and the humor in the inability for teens to connect in spite of social media. At the Hudson Theater.
Generation Me: The Musical explores the heartbreak, confusion, and survivor’s guilt of the effects of suicide on those left behind. Told in flashbacks that open Milo’s story to the audience like a mystery, Generation Me identifies a generation more privileged, self-interested, oblivious, and lonelier than ever.
Creators Julia Soto, Ryan Warren and Wil Finan based in Sacramento, conceived of the story several years ago out of their work with their own youth theater company, Flying Monkey Productions. Frustrated by a dearth of decent material portraying the realities of teens, they crafted the story of "Generation Me: The Musical." The show was in the top five finalists for the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and also received rave reviews in its NYC Fringe Festival Run and its Sacramento runs.
The cast of 15 talented young actors includes actor Camryn Manheim's son, Milo Manheim, in his professional theatrical debut in the lead of role of Milo. (The lead character was not at all created or based on Milo the actor). Actor Will Meyers who plays the role of Cody, has been in various Nickolodeon and other tv and films. All of the actors have been in a variety of musical theatre and other works. Actor Jenna Bergman reprises the role of Dani Ebner, having been in the production in various iterations since 2014.
The show is dedicating one of its Hollywood performances to the Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.
Tickets for the show can be purchased online via Plays411 or at the Hudson. Seats are selling quickly in the small 99-seat house.
