For the second time in 2016, rain has delayed a Verizon IndyCar Series oval race, with Sunday's ABC Supply Co. Inc. Pocono 500 postponed until Monday after persistent afternoon showers moved into the Pocono Raceway area.

Green flag for the 200-lap event has now been scheduled for 12:09 p.m. Monday, with clearing skies and mild temperatures predicted for eastern Pennsylvania tomorrow.  Honda's Mikail Aleshin will start from his IndyCar Series career-first pole, with Takuma Sato starting third.  Live television coverage will be on the NBC Sports Network starting at 12 p.m.

In June, the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway was also postponed after 71 of the scheduled 250 laps had been run.  That race is scheduled to be completed next Saturday, August 27, with Honda's James Hinchcliffe resuming the contest in the lead, followed by Ryan Hunter-Reay and Aleshin, all in Hondas.
