Highly anticipated stage play opens August 11, 2016 at Chicago's, The Miracle Center

CHICAGO, IL, USA, August 8, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- "The Barrio Project," a play based on the memoir of Chicago civic leader and international award-winning author Robert Renteria, will run August 11, 12, and 13th at 7:00 p.m., Renteria's publicist announced today. The opening night premier will feature a VIP reception at 6:00 p.m. that will be followed by the performance. VIP and general admission tickets are available. "The Barrio Project" is presented by The Miracle Center and MTEAF. It was written by The Miracle Center Youth Theatre Ensemble in Chicago. A spokesperson from the non-profit organization says the production was inspired after reading Renteria's book, "From the Barrio to the Board Room."

Robert Renteria stated that "The Barrio Project is something that is both tangible and relevant to right now issues. This middle school and high school performers in the production transcend age race, religion, and economic background."

In his book, the author shares how he catapulted from participating in a gang-infested, East Los Angeles lifestyle, to leading one of Wall Street's most powerful firms. "I teach our kids that the ultimate weapon is not a loaded gun, but an educated mind," Renteria explained.

The stage play not only depicts Robert Renteria's story, but the stories lives of youths around the world.
