Maker Camp Launches 24 New Summer Projects for Kids

/EINPresswire.com/ -- SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - July 11, 2016) -

Who:
Maker Media, Maker Camp

What:
Maker Camp -- the free virtual summer camp for kids interested in DIY, making, creating, crafting, hacking, tinkering, and learning -- returns for its fifth year today, helping to kick off a full Summer of Making. Maker Camp is proud to welcome AT&T -- through its AT&T Aspire program -- as a presenting sponsor this summer, helping to ensure that this fun learning resource remains a free for kids, educators, and parents.

Maker Camp is based online, but has off-line applications, as hundreds of Maker Camp affiliate groups gather all over the world to enjoy making together. Maker Camps are hosted in-person at community centers, libraries, recreation centers, and even in homes to help kids ages 7-12 learn complex concepts while stoking their creative fires.

Maker Camp projects center on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) principles and explore such topics as physics, basic electronics, crafting, construction, woodworking, programming, and sensors and circuits. Maker Camp presents complex subjects in a way that guarantees kids naturally enjoy learning!

New this year, all 24 Maker Camp projects will be available at once, so that affiliates and individual Campers can work through them at a pace that best suits them. They can do as few or as many as they like! In the past, Maker Camp released one project each weekday over a six-week period.

Since its inception in 2012, Maker Camp has engaged over 1 million kids, with a commitment to reach 1 million more. Currently, there are over 600 affiliate locations set for this season, with the goal of 1,000 affiliates helping kids learn to love making.
