Curriki Unveils New Physical Science Learning Solutions
Science Collection Sponsored by Oracle Meets Next Generation Science Standards

/EINPresswire.com/ -- CUPERTINO, CA--(Marketwired - June 28, 2016) - Curriki, a leading K-12 global community for creating, sharing and finding Open Educational Resources (OER), today released its latest curated OER collection: a new Physical Science Learning Collection that is fully aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
The Curriki High School Physics Collection is a complete set of teaching and learning materials featuring compelling video, interactive digital simulations and explorations, video instruction from some of the best physics instructors in the world, lesson plans and printable practice materials.
This curated collection on the highly acclaimed Curriki platform -- now available for educators, parents and students worldwide -- is made possible with support from Oracle Giving, part of Oracle's Corporate Citizenship organization, which also sponsored the development of Project Based Learning unit, The Physics of Sailing, in 2014.
Curriki's High School Physics Collection gives physics teachers tools to support inquiry-based learning and deepen student understanding. It includes interactive simulations to increase student engagement in the challenging subject matter.
Education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) stands as the most important tool for ensuring individual and national prosperity. From 2000 to 2010, jobs in STEM fields grew at three times the rate of any other field, according to the Department of Commerce. Jobs in STEM fields are expected to increase by 17 percent through 2018, nearly double the projected growth rate of other jobs.
"The numbers speak for themselves," said Kim Jones, CEO of Curriki, in unveiling the collection. "A strong foundation of mathematics and science learning at every level of the workforce is more important than ever, and Oracle's support helps enable students and teachers around the world to tap into this learning potential."
"Curriki's new Science Collection is a wonderful opportunity for Oracle Giving to awaken students' passion for science," said Nicole Snow, Manager at Oracle Giving.
As part of its commitment to education, Oracle helps nonprofit organizations such as Curriki deepen students' interest in computer science and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Teachers can use Curriki's new Physics modules to supplement their curriculum, customizing activities to suit their classes. Each module provides ample multi-media instruction and reference resources, opportunities for student group and individual practice activities, suggestions for technology integration, and interactive learning objects (animations, simulations, tutorials, and games), exercises, e-texts, videos, presentations, rubrics, and practice problems and solutions).
