QEP Resources Announces Closing of Offering of Common Stock and Full Exercise of Underwriters’ Option to Purchase Additional Shares

DENVER, June 27, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- QEP Resources, Inc. (NYSE:QEP) (“QEP” or the “Company”) announced today that it has completed the sale of 23,000,000 shares of common stock in connection with its previously announced underwritten public offering, including 3,000,000 shares of common stock issued in connection with the underwriters’ full exercise of their option to purchase additional shares. QEP received gross proceeds (before underwriting discounts and estimated offering expenses) of approximately $413.0 million from the offering, including approximately $53.9 million in connection with the sale of the additional shares.

The net proceeds from this offering are expected to be used to partially fund QEP’s recently announced acquisition of oil and gas properties in the northern Midland Basin of the Permian Basin (the "Acquisition"). If the Acquisition is not consummated, the Company intends to use the net proceeds from this offering for general corporate purposes, which may include, among other things, reducing indebtedness, acquiring properties, and funding a portion of its exploration and production activities and working capital.
