/EINPresswire.com/ -- TULSA, OK--(Marketwired - June 21, 2016) - The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) today announced that the SEG International Exhibition and 86th Annual Meeting will boast the largest technical program in the event's history. Out of 1,513 abstracts received for review, a record number -- 1,103 -- were accepted for presentation in 140 diverse sessions during the SEG Annual Meeting, which takes place 16-21 October 2016 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.

"It is a testament to the dedication of professionals working across the geoscience industry that, despite an extremely trying year due to the conditions that have impacted the oil and gas industry, we will see our largest-ever technical program at this year's Annual Meeting," said SEG Executive Director Dorsey Morrow. "The quantity and quality of submissions to this year's technical program shows how truly important this event is in helping us achieve our mission of connecting the world of applied geophysics."

The SEG Annual Meeting technical program will begin on Monday, 17 October, at 1 p.m., following the SEG Opening Session and Presidential Address. It will include eight special sessions. Oral sessions, poster sessions, and oral discussion/e-Presentation sessions will run through noon on Thursday, 20 October. Postconvention workshops will take place the afternoon of Thursday, 20 October, and all day Friday, 21 October.

Geoscience professionals from all geophysical disciplines and all parts of the world will be represented at the SEG Annual Meeting and will share the latest case histories, technological advancements, and research discoveries.
