/EINPresswire.com/ -- ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwired - June 21, 2016) - Adacel is pleased to announce that Kent State University has awarded a contract to Adacel to upgrade the air traffic control (ATC) simulators housed at their College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology.

Adacel will supply Kent State with the same state-of-the-art MaxSim ATC simulation software that Adacel supplies to the FAA. The upgrade will also include new computer hardware and new tower out-the-window visual display systems. The two existing 5-channel, horizontally configured 240-degree tower views will be replaced by new 8-channel, vertically configured LED visual displays improving the vertical field of view and increasing the lateral field of view to 270-degrees. Adacel will also extend system service and support and provide instructor training on the new systems. Upgrades are scheduled to be completed by the end of June.

The Kent State simulation lab employs two 270-degree tower simulators, ten Enroute Radar control positions and ten Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) positions. With the Adacel software the simulators can be operated independently or in a fully integrated network to enable interactive training among the various control positions as in the real ATC environment.

The stated mission of Kent State's ATC program is to prepare students for success at the FAA Academy and beyond by delivering the highest level of Air Traffic Control education available at a post-secondary institution. Adacel's MaxSim simulators are the perfect complement to that mission because they are also used by the FAA at their training Academy in Oklahoma City and at operational airports throughout the United States. Kent State graduates will benefit from the consistency of learning on the same systems that they will eventually train on with the FAA. The upgraded MaxSim software will also enable Kent State to use the simulators for research projects.
