School in Africa changes the destinies of the less fortunate

We believe the future president could be living in this shack. Do you?

Blessing Sekeramavi - A Future President

Daphne Senjaki - A Future President

The school and teachers have had such a significant influence, that their students are now aspiring to become the future presidents of Africa.

JEFFREYS BAY, SOUTH AFRICA, June 14, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Global Leadership Academy, is a Non-Profit High School situated in Jeffreys Bay - South Africa. They are helping change the destinies of the less fortunate and marginalised children in Africa through strategic intervention and education.

The school and teachers have had such a significant influence, that their students are now aspiring to become the future presidents of Africa.

One of the many inspiring testimonies, is that of a young girl, called Daphne.

When Daphne left her home each weekday morning in the township to walk to our high school, her future seemed to continually tilt and shift towards one of hope and possibility...

Daphne is originally from impoverished and oppressed Zimbabwe (which neighbors South Africa). Zimbabwe has millions of refugees fleeing its borders because of economic collapse and depressed conditions under the current regime. During her years with us at Global Leadership Academy (GLA), Daphne kept saying that she wanted to be the president of Zimbabwe. Another youthful dream inspired by teachers who care? But. Wait. A. Minute. After watching Daphne excel in so many ways, we think it is a brilliant idea. As teachers we discovered that hope moves a person into action. Each day when she left her house in the local township, as if stepping into a dream-coming-true, she was leaving generational poverty behind.
Daphne, now a graduate of Global Leadership Academy (GLA), and enrolled in University, is leading the way to bring light on a dark continent. And there are more Daphnes in the shacks and the homes around us.

A child’s eyes light up when they see miraculous opportunity. We have seen hope in their eyes and we desire to respond more fully. We need your help to reach the unreachable with new destinies.

Boulder Foundation has recently launched a crowd funding campaign to help the school serve more children like Daphne, and to help them cope with the overwhelming demand on resources and the pressing need for expansion.

The crowd funding campaign gives disadvantaged children living without hope a chance to step into new opportunities and escape the cycle of generational poverty. GLA believes that through strategic intervention and dedicated teachers, the Academy is changing the destinies of the less fortunate children in Africa.

Everyone remembers that one teacher who made a difference in their lives while they went to school. GLA’s teachers, administrators, counselors and staff members work tirelessly to stir interest and passion in these less fortunate kid’s heart. Global Leadership Academy is intentional about personal development in the discovery process of education. Values like responsibility, integrity, honesty, respect, and trust are celebrated in and out of the classroom. The school’s vision is to reach the potential, the dream inside of the students and call it out, believe in them, and affirm them as they go out to impact the nations.

Since the first class of 2012, GLA has had a 100% graduation rate each year (the regional average is 62%). Those that have a 100% graduation rate are only 6% of the high schools in South Africa. The cost for a scholarship is approximately $83 per month or $1,000 per year, which includes tuition, school meals, uniforms, books and lab fees.
